Ralph Titchenal wrote to say that . . .

"I had heard that AMSOIL ATF ran cooler than petroleum ATF. I decided to make a test on my own van to see what the difference was. I had a temperature gauge installed in the sump of the transmission of my 79 Ford 250 van with a 460 cubic inch engine. When they installed the gauge, they drained out the ATF, and refilled the transmission with new petroleum fluid (DEXRON 11).

"I drove the van for about two months, keeping a record of the temperature shown on the gauge under all conditions. In normal driving (around town and no-load highway conditions), the gauge registered about 145 degrees (F). I then loaded a 71 Delta 88 on a trailer and drove for 50 miles. The temperature reading averaged 175 degrees.

Ralph then drained the petroleum ATF and installed AMSOIL ATF and repeated the tests. For around town and highway driving, the gauge gave a reading of 115 degrees (F). When pulling the trailered Delta 88, the gauge never went above 140 degrees (35 degrees lower than with petroleum)! "I strongly recommend AMSOIL ATF over non-synthetic ATF"

Larry Williams of Tennessee owns and operates a 1979 Kenworth 400 Cummins with a 15-speed transmission.

Larry was looking for a quality synthetic oil for his diesel engine. He had already been using a by-pass filtration system on his truck's engine, and had recently installed the AMSOIL By-Pass Filter Element.

Larry liked the By-Pass Element, and wanted to replace the Shell Rotella 15W-40 engine oil he was using with a quality synthetic engine oil. Larry's friend, Herb Herrington, who had told him about the benefits of using the AMSOIL By-Pass Oil Filter, then suggested that Larry install AMSOIL 15W-40 Para-Synthetic Diesel oil in his truck, and 20W-50 Racing Oil in the Kenworth's 15-speed transmission.

Larry observed that his engine oil stayed clean longer and engine oil analysis, taken 18,000 miles after the oil had been installed, indicated less wear metals than would normally be found at 8,000 to 10,000 miles. Also, the oil was still very clean and suitable for continued use.

Fuel economy, according to Larry. . . "went from 4.5 mpg to 5.0 mpg with a full load. When the Kenworth was hauling a light load, mileage went up to 6.5 mpg -something it had never done before installing the AMSOIL Lubrication and Filtration Products. As for the turbo-charger, I had problems with it in the past due to high temperatures. Since using AMSOIL, I haven't had any problems with the turbo. And the turbo doesn't labor like it did before installing the AMSOIL Products."
